Darma Valley – Panchachuli Base Camp Expedition

Day 1 : Kathgodam to Bageshwar (160 Km)

The journey begins as the roads leave the plains behind and enter the Kumaon hills. Ride through pine forests, mountain valleys, and traditional villages while gradually settling into the Himalayan pace.

Visit Kainchi Dham and later explore Baghnath Temple beside the Saryu River before reaching Bageshwar by evening.

Day 2 : Bageshwar to Dharchula (160 Km)

Today’s route moves deeper into eastern Kumaon through Didihat, Askot, and Jauljibi.

As the roads follow the Kali River valley, the mountains begin feeling wilder and more remote. Reach Dharchula by evening — a unique Indo-Nepal border town where mountain culture and local life blend naturally together.

Day 3 : Dharchula to Dantu (80 Km)

After permit formalities, continue toward the remote Darma Valley.

The roads narrow into dramatic Himalayan terrain surrounded by waterfalls, hanging valleys, and traditional mountain villages. Reach Dantu by evening with breathtaking views of the Panchachuli Peaks glowing during sunset.

Day 4 : Panchachuli Base Camp / Zero Point (10 Km Trek)

The highlight of the expedition.

Trek toward Panchachuli Base Camp through glacier streams, alpine terrain, and wide Himalayan landscapes. Local stories connect these peaks with the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, adding a deeper feeling to the experience.

Spend time near Zero Point before returning back to Dantu.

Day 5 : Dantu to Chaukori (180 Km)

Ride back through Dharchula, Jauljibi, and Didihat as the landscapes slowly transition from rugged Himalayan terrain to peaceful Kumaon hills.

Reach Chaukori by evening, known for its panoramic Himalayan views and calm mountain atmosphere.

Day 6 : Chaukori – Patal Bhuvaneshwar – Kasardevi (180 Km)

Visit the ancient Patal Bhuvaneshwar Cave Temple before continuing toward Jageshwar Temples and Chitai Golu Devta Temple.

By evening, reach Kasar Devi Temple known for its peaceful atmosphere, unique geomagnetic zone, and one of the most beautiful sunset views in Kumaon.

Day 7 : Kasardevi to Kathgodam (100 Km)

Wake up to peaceful Himalayan views before beginning the final drive back toward Kathgodam.

As the roads slowly descend toward the plains, the journey comes to an end — leaving behind memories of remote valleys, mountain roads, and the raw beauty of Kumaon.

* Full payment of the expedition must be completed before the departure date as communicated by the team.

* Travelers must carry a valid government ID proof during the journey.

* This is a Himalayan road expedition through remote mountain regions. Flexibility and cooperation from all participants are expected throughout the trip.

* After Dharchula, the journey enters a remote Himalayan region where mobile network connectivity may be weak, unstable, or unavailable for long durations. Travelers are advised to inform family members in advance and avoid dependency on internet connectivity.

* Accommodation in remote regions such as Darma Valley will primarily be on a sharing basis depending on availability and local infrastructure conditions.

* Hotels, guesthouses, camps, and homestays in higher Himalayan regions may offer basic facilities compared to city standards. The experience is focused more on the location and journey rather than luxury stays.

* Weather conditions, landslides, roadblocks, political situations, or any unforeseen circumstances may require route changes, delays, or itinerary modifications in the interest of safety.

* Travelers are expected to follow instructions given by the Trip Captain, local support staff, and ground team throughout the expedition.

* Consumption of alcohol or any intoxicating substance during riding/driving hours is strictly prohibited.

* Riders/drivers are responsible for handling vehicles carefully throughout the journey. Any damage caused due to negligence or mishandling will be chargeable.

* In case of extreme weather or road conditions, certain routes, activities, or sightseeing points may be skipped without prior notice for safety reasons.

* Travelers are responsible for their personal luggage, riding gear, valuables, and electronic items throughout the trip.

* Driftmates will not be responsible for delays, losses, injuries, natural calamities, accidents, road conditions, vehicle breakdowns, or situations beyond operational control.

* Respect local culture, local communities, and the Himalayan environment throughout the journey. Avoid littering and unnecessary disturbance in villages or religious places.

* The expedition is designed for travelers who are comfortable with long travel hours, mountain roads, changing weather, and basic conditions in remote regions.

* Network connectivity after Dharchula is limited. BSNL usually works better compared to other networks in certain areas, but connectivity is not guaranteed.

* ATM access becomes limited in remote regions. Carry sufficient cash before entering Darma Valley.

* Electricity backup may not always be available in remote stays. Carry power banks and keep devices charged whenever possible.

* Weather in the mountains can change rapidly. Travelers should carry proper warm layers, rain protection, and essential personal medicines.

* Shared accommodations in remote areas are part of the authentic Himalayan experience and may vary depending on local conditions.

* Road conditions in the Himalayas can be rough and unpredictable. Delays are normal and should be approached with patience and flexibility.
