The Munsiyari Johar Valley Expedition is a journey through the breathtaking landscapes and rich culture of the Kumaon Himalaya. Beginning in Delhi, we travel through Haldwani, Kainchi Dham, and Kasar Devi, before exploring the ancient Patal Bhuvaneshwar Cave Temple and the scenic Birthi Waterfall.

Reaching Munsiyari, the gateway to the remote Johar Valley, we experience stunning Himalayan views, local culture, and peaceful mountain life. The expedition’s highlight is the trek to Khaliya Top and Zero Point, offering panoramic views of the majestic Panchachuli peaks.

Our return journey takes us through Matkot Hot Spring, Pithoragarh, and Lohaghat, before reaching Rudrapur and boarding our overnight journey back to Delhi.

Itinerary

Day 01 – Arrival in Haldwani
Our journey begins from Delhi as we leave the plains behind and travel towards the Kumaon Himalaya. We continue towards Haldwani, the gateway to the mountains, preparing for the Himalayan journey ahead.

Day 2: Haldwani → Kainchi Dham → Kasar Devi
We enter the Kumaon hills and visit Kainchi Dham, surrounded by the peaceful Himalayan landscape. We then continue towards Kasar Devi, where we explore the surroundings and enjoy the mountain views and evening sunset.

Day 3: Kasar Devi → Patal Bhuvaneshwar → Birthi
Today we travel deeper into Kumaon and explore the fascinating Patal Bhuvaneshwar Cave Temple. Continuing through the mountain landscapes and the Tejam region, we reach Birthi, home to the spectacular Birthi Waterfall

Day 4: Birthi → Munsiyari
We continue towards Munsiyari, travelling deeper into the remote Johar Valley. En route, we pass through Kalamuni Top and experience the changing Himalayan landscapes. On reaching Munsiyari, we explore the local market and experience the unique culture and atmosphere of this Himalayan town.

Day 5: Munsiyari → Khaliya Top → Munsiyari
Today we leave the road behind and trek to Khaliya Top. The trail takes us into the high Himalayan landscape, leading towards Zero Point, where we experience spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the mighty Panchachuli range.
The Khaliya Top Trek is a fixed and included part of the expedition.

Day 6: Munsiyari → Lohaghat
We leave the Johar Valley behind and travel through the changing landscapes of Kumaon towards Lohaghat. Along the way, we visit the Matkot Hot Spring and continue through the Pithoragarh region, enjoying the forests, rivers and mountain landscapes.

Day 07 | Lohaghat → Rudrapur → Delhi
Our final journey takes us from Lohaghat towards Rudrapur, passing through the forests and foothills of Kumaon.

We reach Rudrapur by approximately 6:00 PM. After a short break, we begin our return journey towards Delhi

Cancellation Policy

✔ The initial booking deposit (30%) remains non-refundable across all scenarios to secure permits, vehicles, and mountain inventory in advance.

✔ Cancellations requested 20 days or more prior to departure incur a cancellation fee of 20% of the total trip cost.

✔ Cancellations requested within 15 days of departure incur a 100% cancellation charge (non-refundable).

✔ Non-payment of the final balance within the agreed timeframe results in automatic cancellation and forfeiture of previous deposits.

✔ No partial or full refunds are applicable for unused accommodations, unavailed meals, missed transfer segments, no-shows, or voluntary early departure from the trip.

✔ Connectivity Expectations: Mobile networks decrease significantly beyond Dharchula, with long stretches of limited or absent mobile signals. Travelers should update families prior to entering off-grid valleys.

✔ Remote Infrastructure: Stays in off-beat Himalayan valleys (such as Darma Valley) utilize local homestays, traditional guesthouses, or wilderness camps focusing on authentic cultural immersion, community hospitality, and scenic location rather than urban luxury amenities. Accommodations are allocated on a shared basis based on localized regional capacity.

✔ Safety & Captain’s Authority: Road safety, weather windows, and guest well-being take absolute precedence. Travelers must adhere to safety directives from the Trip Captain and ground team. The trip leader retains operational discretion to amend routes, skip sections, or alter timings to safeguard the group.

✔ Zero Tolerance: The consumption of alcohol or recreational substances during active driving, riding, or trekking hours is strictly forbidden.

✔ Equipment Responsibility: Participants riding rented vehicles are expected to operate machinery conscientiously; damages resulting from reckless riding or neglect remain the financial responsibility of the rider.
